baby stroller net with some weight added would work . and a baby stroller net is about $5.00.

We use ours on our hatch and the elastic holds it fine.

Any baby store should have some over near the strollers.

I've never tried it with caulk....but you would be amazed at what simply boiling a piece will do to paint.

We threw OLD door knobs in a pot and boiled them for an hour or so. Paint just fell off.

Can't hurt the fastener....maybe worth a try..

Sorry to hijack the thread...

The spreaders have a metal piece attached to the heel of the wood spreader.
The metal piece then inserts into a piece that is attached to the mast. My perception is the slop is in the metal to metal piece.

Not sure why you would want to put a coating that doesn't expand and contact on a surface that is guaranteed to do so. Seems like a recipe for a big mess.

That wood rudder is going to be happiest all wet and swelled up.

I am going to just end for end the line and keep the chain.

Lots of stuff on this boat is in the overkill category, but she is a heavy old barge so might as well go up a size where you can.

I think the chain was sized just to fit the winch gypsy.

thanks for the info!
