Re: Two week summer cruise
2) Taking photos of people. I'm seemingly minding my own business, off in another direction looking at my camera's screen, when in reality I'm taking a photo of someone who's out of my line of vision. :cackle: I have needed a camera to do this SOOOO many times but I thought that would be against th...

Re: Old Newbie with questions
HI Tom, Welcome to the forum! I see you live in Mathews! It is a wonderful small town isnt it? I have a Catalina 27 and we will probably meet on the bay at sometime. To your question, I would rig the boat to make you feel comfortable and safe while single handing. I have single handed quite a few ti...

Re: Thoughts on buying a boat that was struck by lightning
Thanks Tim, I had in my mind that it was a Morris from the start of my thinking of buying this boat, but Rachel set me straight. The more questions I ask the more the hull is starting to scare me. Like you said, I might not have any issues right now, but later on down the road stuff might start popp...

Re: Thoughts on buying a boat that was struck by lightning
I have not gotten really serious yet on the purchase so I have not done a detailed inspection of the boat but trying to get other peoples opinions. I think it is a good chance to get a 40' Morris at a very good price. It does have a salvage title which will make selling the boat down the road a slig...

Re: Thoughts on buying a boat that was struck by lightning
The boat sustained a hit to the mast head and exited out the starboard side onto a boat stand and then hit Rachel's shore power cord. So, there is a hole in the side of the boat that needs repaired. ( The hole was enlarged to inspect the coring, which is burnt) The battery's were fried upon strike. ...

Try this Circuit wizard out and you can then size your cable properly. Be sure to use 3% for panel loads.

Re: epoxy resin coating a virgin boat bottom
I guess my question is what do you do to the bottom if you have vinylester resin as opposed to polyester? The reason I am asking is I have to sand the bottom of a 2005 boat and I am curious what steps I have to take depending on the composition of the fiberglass?

Re: Mast to deck wiring chase
Tim,
On the interior where the thru-hull is, do you have a cover that goes over the wiring or is it left exposed?

Mast to deck wiring chase
I am looking for some pictures of how you guys get the wiring from the mast to the deck. I am not interested in having the wiring go through the mast step on the deck, but would like to have the wiring external to the mast. I have heard everyone say that they take the 45 degree stanchion bases and p...

Catalina 27 mast step question
I am looking for pictures of the compression post step that is in the keel. I have heard that it is one block of wood in there, but others have noted several pieces of plywood in there. I want to cut into the fiberglass to inspect but I would like some pictures before I do. I do plan on Sailing my b...
