Our boats history
Well I guess if you sail far enough in an older boat you will get a call on the VHF like we did yesterday from another boater giving you a little history about your boat. As a motor yacht passed yesterday its capt. radio'd to tell me he was the 1st to capt. our E-32 when it was owned by Camp Robinho...

LOL It works well on the grills also. I thought ours was a gonner as far as looks go but it took away the burned look.It does leave a brownish residue that takes a few wipes to get off.

Re: stained stainless
I tried the Spotless stainless first but even the Rep at the Miami sail show said it wouldn't work on a high heat stain. I have noticed the stove top has dulled so I'm going to try the Spotless Sainless now the stain is gone.

When the law changed about window tint for cars I found the A&A mix worked great for removing the tint adhesive with out worry about the interiors of the cars. Did 100+ cars in a few years time.

Souinds like it could use a good taking apart cleaned and greased. You want to look at the grears if you haven't seen them before. I would also question the cable if I didn't know its age.

I would think you would want to make the patches small as possible so not to change the flex of the mast is a good idea. what about an internal sleave also so the hmast can not be de-pressed. On yours you might beable to straighten the dimples by useing a rod and hammering from the oppisite side. a ...

180 grit is great to start out with, if theres a heavy build of old paint then start with 80 grit, but it chews quick. More importain try to keep the sander flat or you will make groves. Like the cars I restore, always keep the sanding pads flat no matter what size.
if its taking to long to strip you could try heavier grit sand paper or chemical strip. I much prefer the dust storms.
It is all in the prep so taking your time will mean a better result.
