Re: Can fresh epoxy retard cure of interlux bilgecote?
I'm pretty sure my can says it is good for fiberglass, but to call Interlux before applying over epoxy or resin. Hopefully I can get out to the boat tomorrow and check to be sure.

Re: T bar on mast
Well I got the new piece of track installed today. Of course the holes in the new piece didn't line up with the old so I had to drill and tap new ones. Now that I have it on I can't seem to remember what used to hold the boom in place and now it just slides freely off the bottom. Any suggestions? ht...

Re: T bar on mast
Thanks for all the advice and help everyone. I found a consignment shop in Annapolis that had some 7/8" track. It doesn't look the same, but I think it will work. And for $2 it is worth a shot. I'll let you know how it works out.

T bar on mast
Sorry, but i have no idea what the real name for this is. I'm pretty new to all of this and trying to figure it out. I'm also not sure if this is Triton specific, but I figured it would be a good place to start. There is a T bar attached to my mast that the boom can slide up and down. It was super b...

Removing this sticky fuzzy junk
I recently pulled off an old vinyl like covering from behind the backrest on my boat and was left with a fuzzy material stuck to the fiberglass. I tried to sand it off, but that didn't work at all. I then moved on to soaking it down with a natural paint remover and attempting to scrape it off. This ...

Re: Epoxy question
Rachel, it is a drain. It just happens to be sticking up a bit because it is just sitting in place in that picture. It will be flush with the bottom when it is finished.
Duncan, thanks for the tip. No paint it is!

"Back to your icebox: I'm just curious -- and we don't know all the details of your construction of course -- but if you only have plywood and resin, how are you sealing the joints (say, where the bottom joins the sides)? I would most likely coat the wood with resin, then lay in thickened epox...

Re: Epoxy question
Again, thank you guys for your advice. I have the inside all sealed up and the second coat sanded smooth and ready to continue. Now I have another question in regard to the icebox. Why do we lay cloth on top of this, for extra support? It seems pretty solid now and I kind of like the way it looked s...

Re: Epoxy question
Thank you for your replies. After reading your recomendations and the fact that I just got off a 24 hour shift I will be doing the secondary bonding. I'm hoping that after my nap when I head out there it will be cured enough to do some sanding. Love the glove trick. So much easier than pealing off a...

Epoxy question
I am in the process of building a new icebox for my Triton. I have all the insulation in as well as some 1/4" plywood over it for some support. Once done with the epoxy work I will be laying down some fiberglass on top of this and then painting it. Yesterday I coated the wood with some epoxy, b...

Thanks for the picture. I absolutely love this city. This will be only the second Mardi Gras I have missed in the last 12 years and I am not a happy camper.

Love the idea about the trotter box, thanks for the picture of it. I was thinking about doing the rough in for a stove while doing my Triton, but was worried about loosing sleeping room. Love this solution.

Paint underneath the galley
Hey all, another question for you. Today I pulled out the galley on my Triton, did a lot of cleaning and sanding, and then primed the area underneath and all of the inside of the galley "box". My question is, should I use a hard paint like bilgekote for this area or can I get by with just ...

Re: Floating rebuild
Wow, thanks for that right up. While kind of a long read, it had a lot of good information and tips I will be using in the very near future. I'm also dealing with renovating a boat in the water. Kind of a strange problem to have...its free to leave it where it is at the marina, but more money than I...

Thank you for your explanations. I'm glad you mentioned the automatic pump. I was wondering why I shouldn't use one of those rather than a regular one with a float switch wired in.

Re: Bilge pump size
As of right now I have nothing. There was an automatic pump with a built in float, but it got trashed while trying to remove it to clean it up. So right now my total count is....0. Nice huh? The boat is in a slip at a marina and will be until at least this summer. Constantly hooked up to shore power...

Bilge pump size
Tomorrow's project on my Triton refurbishing is replacing the old bilge pump. I was wondering how big of a pump other people have installed, their reasoning behind it, and what they plan on changing next time. Any suggestions?

That looks really nice. The panel I just ripped out of my boat was sealed wood right up by the companionway, and the PO says he never had any problems with it.

Re: Filling a large interior hole
Thanks for the replys. I'm going to leave enough room to keep it off the hull, I just didn't know if there is a good reason to screw it in or to tab it in. Sounds like I can go either way. Thanks again.

Filling a large interior hole
I pulled out the old icebox in my triton, and before building a new one I want to cover the old hole left there. I made out a cardboard template to the size of the hole. Lets see if I can get a picture to work. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_F51cglzrvQo/TRkX7Q1GQtI/AAAAAAAAAXA/Bh9Ofqw-jJk/s144/Icebox%20-%20H...

Re: Triton 234....I think
OK, I think I got confirmation on the hull number. I ripped out the icebox today and came across another piece of wood with the 234 scratched into it. Speaking of iceboxes...is there any reason when people build a new one they don't do it just starboard of where the sink is? It seems like loosing th...

Triton 234....I think
Hello everyone. First off, let me say thank you to everyone involved in this site. It is a treasure trove of information and ideas I have been looking through for information and inspiration. I recently acquired my first sail boat from a friend of mine. She is a 1962 (he thinks) Triton. I searched e...
