that sounds about right. I get 3500 rpms before the stern sits right down. Definetly need a three blade prop.

Re: Prop size?
Just repowered this year. Had to have a new prop made. It was a 12x9 right hand three blade. the old prop was a larger three blade.
I think you need three blades. Lots of fun prop walk in reverse !

Re: Strap Location for Haul Out
this year the aft strap got up between the rudder and the keel. that was not fun !
no apparent damage though.
I like under the counter for the aft strap. seems to work.

Re: The boat you want to sail Vs. the boat you want to resto
Luckily for me both the boat I want to sail and the boat I want to restore are my 1963 Triton.
Got to do a bit of both this season finally, instead of just the restore part..... know what you mean about the Ariel
just a really sweet hull !

Interesting !
please send more photos, especially of your exhaust hook-up when you get there.
"head over heels" setup looks much like Jenny Marie's - We have a box for the starting battery and spare engine parts which is very convenient.

Re: Pearson Triton-Bluewater on a budget
Hi There don't know if this is any help but I pasted over my workplan for Jenny Marie. she came to me with a beefed up rig already. I definetly would go for external chainplates, otherwise, I think the rigs on these boats are pretty good. One step at a time so that you don't get overwhelmed. I have ...

Still seriously considering converting from my old Universal diesel to electric at some point. I have read many of the threads here which are helpful. Re: Shrink wrap storage questions
Hmmm, good one. I think I am going to leave mine alone at this point. I am new to this boat and this rig and it seems to have been fine now for several years. I worry about slacking the rig and giving it more opportunity to move around especially with these stepped on the deck rigs. after next seaso...

Re: Shrink wrap storage questions
My old girl lay under shrink wrap for two winters and one summer - needless to say she was nasty down below when I bought her. I think that is because no ports or hatches were left open. This winter I will leave some ventilation open and I also plan to remove the coamings etc. so I will be working a...

I have seen pipe rollers used this way to good effect.
We moved a 6,000 lb boat this way off a flatbed by hooking up a come along to a nearby large boulder
worked like a charm !

I agree
reducing windage is critical.
get into a "hurricane hole" where you can put out a decent amount of scope and still have some shelter.
still rather be in the water than up on a landwash that will be flooded by a storm surge though....

I need to make some cockpit coamings for my Triton - my local fancy wood supplier wants 7.00 per board foot for purpleheart, 14.00 for mahogany and 33.00 for teak. I really like the look of purpleheart. I was planning on laminating together two 1 x 8's to get the 15 odd inches needed. and then epoxy...

dent in what needs to be done. .. alot of money goes into paint, epoxy and bedding compound. Nickel and dime stuff.

If you can afford it, you can't beat an Alberg 30... if you can't quite afford that extra two feet. I would go with a Pearson Triton

I'm learning alot about this as I am replacing my opening fwd ports with sealed plexi ones due to constant leakage.
My bronze opening ports have round lignum vitae "buttons" for the dogs and they seem to work pretty well.

I need a mainsail, my luff is 31ft and the foot is 12.5 on the old main which is in tatters. does this sound about right to all you Triton owners ? there is a good used loose footed main around here but the luff is 33ft. I have had lots of experience with loose footed mains and I like them alot.
