I didn't do the instal but when I had a triton it had a Yanmar 2gm20F with a 2 blade prop. I never had any issues with it.

Re: Repeated steering gear failures
A few other things to think about: Is the chain centered on the chain wheel when the rudder is amidships? (do you have the same length of chain on both sides of the chain wheel?) Are the steering cables tight? The chain might be able to jump off if there is slack in the system. You can adjust tensio...

Re: Triton Inspection
Some things to take a look at are:
-deck core/soft spots
-mast support beam
-chain plates
-false keel
-wood rudder
But generally look over everything carefully. These boats are 50 years old, chances are that many systems are going to need some work/replacement or be suspect.

I believe I did. We were there looking at a boat that didn't, Cough Cough..... live up to its advertisement.....We keep our boat in City Island. It was very interesting seeing all the different boats there. If i'm ever in the area I would stop by and try to take it all in.

So I figured I'm past due for an update on this, I ended up fiberglassing the inside and then painting it, turned out great. Thanks for the advice. Here is a cameraphone picture showing how it looks now:

I was wondering if the HULL of the Corinthian is cored or solid fiberglass?

Depth meter receiver needs to be replaced, Help!
Hello Folks, So it looks like the screen is dead on my depth meter. The PO told me the display was slowly getting harder and harder to read. Now it lights up, but i can make out any numbers (this was on the hard, I expect it will do the same thing in the water) The receiver unit is a Interphase dg-1...

Ben, I'm really sorry if my original post to you made you cringe. I completely did not mean it that way. I only even mentioned it because it can get confusing when the "wrong" terms actually also happen to mean something else (i.e. topsides vs. deck; ceiling vs. overhead). I was just figu...

Re: What Paint???.... Marine Ply in the cabin.
Based on the picture, it looks like the deck was recored with plywood. Then the plywood itself wasn't fully encapsulated in fiberglass. That is a bit odd, to be honest. Normally, when you recore, you encapsulate everything in fiberglass. It might not be a bad idea to look closely on the recore job ...

What Paint???.... Marine Ply in the cabin.
One of the projects on my list to get my triton ready for the season is to paint the ceiling of the v-birth area. The previous owner recored the deck from below. There is some exposed plywood (see pictures) that is glassed in on the edges that I plan to sand down smooth and paint. I am not sure what...

Yanmar Stop Cable.....Alternatives?
Hello folks, So i have a new to me Triton with a Yanmar 2gm20f. The boat has a wheel and on the pedestal the stop cable for the engine is installed. The cable/nob is very hard/ almost impossible to move. A buddy of mine at with a boat at the yard and i were trying to solve the problem. It seems like...

Re: Dingy Rehab: Wood and Fiberglass Questions
Was the dinghy used as a planter or sand box? I guess the previous owner had made a stand for it and filled it with ice at a party for drinks. A lot of the holes are from this; for dranage and mounting the stand. When you're through paint it something other than blue so you can find it when it come...

Got a chance to work on the dingy today. Lucky for me a friend at that yard with a lot of fiber glass experience is also fixing up an old dingy. So I have been taken under his wing a bit on this to make the process go a little smoother. Ground out the 25+ drill holes in the hull and patched them wit...

Where to get a Mooring Mushroom near City Island, NY?
Does any one have any recommendations on places to buy a new or used mooring mushroom near/or in City Island, NY? I am in need for my Triton for this spring. I am planning on getting a 300lb mushroom, what are all you Triton sailors out there using?

My plan is to make her in to a functional dingy, I'm not looking to replicate how she came from the factory years ago. Re: Dingy Rehab: Wood and Fiberglass Questions
Started to work on it yesterday. Built some saw horses, took out the added flotation that ad become soggy and waterlogged after 50years of being left out in the elements. I also chizzled away at some of the epoxy that had been used to hold the old seats in place. Yesterday got me thinking about pain...
