Yes, I posted it over at the Wooden Boat forum, and after some Googling to compare pictures, it's a Cheoy Lee Frisco Flyer. It could be an absolute peach of a boat - they are very pretty with lots of nice woodwork. It's simply a real shame that someone let this one get into such an advanced state o...

I think it is possible that if a boat was built in one year and then was shipped to a dealer, then was not sold until the next calendar year, the dealer could have sold it as being a new boat from the year it was first sold. Yes, or it could be based on different years for the hull lay-up vs. the f...

As far as I know, oiling exterior teak usually results in black gummy misery. Maybe your mahogany is different, but I'd be interested in seeing photos and knowing for how many seasons you are claiming good results.

I love varnish. But for things like toerails, they just don't last in my case. I have had it with endlessly fixing the toerails only to have it peel in less than a year. Other varnished bits are still good after 6 years so I will keep using varnish for these parts but not for the toerails. The colo...

500 GPH? 750? 1000? That depends on how high you have to lift the water. One good setup is to have a small pump deep in the bilge, and a large one higher up. The small one takes care of drips and small seeps, and capacity doesn't matter so much. The larger one, higher up, is the "save your boa...

I'll hazard a guess that lowering the board that far (moving the CLR forward) will induce a lot of weather helm. I doubt it, I think that would be a pretty serious design error. Centreboard boats are designed and balanced to be sailed with the board down, on the points of sail where it helps, i.e. ...
