My solution was a bit different. I have the large mag lites, and was forever misplacing them. I happened to notice that the lights will fit perfectly in the really inexpensive plastic fishing rod holders that they sell at West Marine. I've found the best tool for cutting expanded foam is a serrated bread knife. Cuts like butter and no fear of cutting thru the hull, unlike a sawzall.

inprin, you may have missed my point. I'm not suggesting that you make any change to the toe rail. A flush mount drain, mounted in the deck, with an exit on the hull topsides would accomplish your goal of keeping the deck dry. You can add a barrier coat additive to the epoxy resin, and I believe there is a UV additive as well. I don't think either is needed if you're going to use an antifouling paint on the hull anyway. Hard or Ablative paint should give you plenty of UV protection. Just my opinion.

I'm no expert by any means, but why would you want to build up your decks an additional 1/4 or 1/2 inch? Instead, why not install deck drains at the lowest point in the deck and have them drain midway between the rail and the water line? Unless the design is unusually wet,and you're shipping massive...

The Victory 21 that I am currently warehousing, for a future project, used large styrofoam blocks trimmed to fit the hull profile. The entire aft area beneath the cockpit was packed tightly with these blocks. Approximate size of each block is 48" x 20" x 20"

Makes sense to me if working with larger projects and don't want to have to sand out resting points, or drive nails thru plywood blocks only to step on them at some later date.....(don't ask).

Suggestion that has worked for me...there is bound to be a sailmaker close by...have the seller take them there for an appraisal...you pay...wouldn't run more than a few bucks....

I used Sears VERY Best exterior latex on the interior of my Columbia Sabre almost 3 years ago. It's still tacky where covered by vinyl cushions. Anywhere it has been exposed to open air, it's fine.

Many of the Loran C units have chips included with detailed charts. If the loran system is up and running in your area, it's a good source for a very inexpensive chart plotter. IMHO
