Good to see the progress! Now that you are out of the bilge (and the constraints of using surrogate arms) things should go a little quicker for you! Another oddity of the Alberg 30 is that the outer diameters of the stern tube and the stuffing box are not the same. So usually folks have put on whate...

I recommend removing and rebedding the ports to have much luck at getting the problem solved. That said, after I rebedded Dasein's deadlights, one of them had a slight leak. With some inspection I was able to determine that there was a pinhole in the butyl on the exterior of the port allowing water ...

no toggles, and no current either. I can't recall the last time I saw a pot bouy standing erect like that. Freaky. they think they own the water! The photos are deceptive. Lobster pots often stand quite upright when there's a current: you need to look at the water rushing past! Actually, the pots a...

Foggy Day in Casco Bay
We had a rather foggy trip back from the Basin on the New Meadows River today. At times visibility (as determined by GPS and chartplotter measurements to bouys) was down to .11 nautical miles but at other times it scaled up and made for some nice pics. http://dasein668.com/art/sailing/2007/070807/fo...

Re: Removing Gel Coat
...encapsulation in an overlay of lightweight fiberglass cloth... Such as I did on Dasein: http://www.dasein668.com/projects/exterior/deckPrep . This was not a minor job, however 3 years out I haven't seen any print-through of the cracking/crazing, so it seems that it was effective for the severe c...

Ok, I got the stupid intake hoses on. Boiling water, dishsoap, and some mild cursing. The system seems to work well overall. I need to mess around with the size of the vent hole in the intake to reach a happy medium between aggressive flushing and a reasonable amount of water left in the bowl when f...

This cup had some of the best sailboat racing I've ever seen. Granted I'm not that old, but still. I think I'm about the only person in the world who doesn't care about the nationality thing. To me it's about putting together some teams of great sailors and heading out to have some great match racin...

Yeah, I saw that stuff. 22 bucks a foot seems a little steep for ANY hose in my estimation. But if money were no object, I'd probably give it a try. It seems like nice stuff. I wonder how you make a warrenty claim on that stuff? Box up the offensive piece of hose and ship it back so that they can ta...

Well, the space available for the install was really just too small for my system, and hose might actually have been a neater installation. Oh well. I'm not tearing it out now! It turned out OK, though. It looks better in person some how than it does in the pictures, which is sort of unusual, but th...

Nathan, I like the clean look of the plumbing runs so far: unobtrusive and better looking than all hose. I'm pretty happy with the look so far. I hope I can keep it nice and neat when I get to the rat's nest with two diverters, a tee-fitting, and pump... Keep your fingers crossed! And I'm glad to s...

I was going to give you a hard time for taking the 'easy' route and putting all of your plumbing on the wall instead of behind the cabinet but I am really warming up to your installation. When I put my plumbing behind the panel I had to get creative and puts lots of bends in the plumbing so I wasn'...
