I left the discs with the boat but it appears to me that what was cut out when countersinking the bolt was put back with bedding.

There is a guy who supplies stainless boomkins for WS'ers. I just prefer the wood. I bought a pushpit from this same man and if I hadn't, I never would have discovered the rot until it failed. I should probably saturate the new boomkin with epoxy....hmm. Britton, a 'wood guy' - ship right told me it...

I did not remove the filler with my nail, I removed what appears to be fiberglass discs, there is some residual white bedding around it. These bolts were countersunk from the outside above and below the through hull itself.

groco through hulls

I have not uploaded the pictures onto my computer yet but wanted to throw this out there. I have the old grocos. In my sanding around them I have found a round hole above and below them. After sanding I was able to stick my nail in there and pop it out. A very large bronze flat head is now visible. ...

This is not happening in the next few days but.... Hull is beige, current boot stripe is brown, bottom is blue - what's left of it. Sailcloth is brown. Bulwarks exterior are brown. Tim, I know you have deep felt opinions on all this. At some point, I'd like to make the hull dark, either green or blu...

I'm gearing up (actuallly started today) to paint the bottom. I was wondering as my nose was 5 inches from the hull, whilst sanding, how I tell what kind of paint is on there already. Ablative or not. I ask because (obviously) I want to repaint with the same kind.
