I'd say make it as big as is practical. Given the size of a boat like the Bristol 27, it won't be too large.

rocklandharbor.info shows winds in the 15mph for the past 2 hours. But I know that Rockland harbor has about 2 miles of fetch, so it doesn't take much to get really snotty in there.

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with the way the sole came out. It's S-O-L-I-D! Which was the idea, after all. And it doens't look too bad, either.

As for the bilgekote: After extensive testing and color matching (yeah, right) I have been mixing my bilgekote 1:1 grey to white.

If you are using an epoxy fairing compound (ie West System with cabosil and microballoons) I don't think it will make much, if any, difference. It will stick just fine either way.

I like Absum. To me, names like "Bonnie Jean" just seem more appropriate for either a working lobster boat, or a classic old wooden schooner. But that would be my second choice. "Pandora" is too common, in my opinion.

No complaints. They're bright and they've held up well. The bulbs, of course, get quite hot, and draw much more than an LED lamp, but they're pretty nice units.

No, they just sit in place. I'm not building an around-the-world boat, so I didn't see that it was that important.

Settees: for now just some white semigloss paint. Eventually (when I redo the galley) I'll veneer them with the beadboard I'm using elsewhere in the boat, I think.

My bilge wasn't that bad. The glass covering the ballast seems substantial and sound, if a bit lumpy. It had also been previously painted with bilgekote or similar at some point in the past.
