Just finished viewing hull 97 on ebay. I find it very disturbing that the owner is parting the boat out without trying to sell the whole boat first. I did send off a quick message inquiring about the whole boat... just what I don't need, but I have to at least inquire.

I don't know what to say. Apparently all the seller cares about is pulling in as many feeble dollars as he can out of what he sees as junk. Never mind that there might be someone willing and excited to save the whole boat. (No, not me right now.)
I'm sure the boat is dirty and disgusting, and probably has many problems. But I think efforts should always be made to save the boat as a whole first.

I wrote the seller asking if they'd considered selling the boat as a whole.
Here's the response:

But if someone offers 2000.00 before any bids are placed its as good as sold! It's all there, 5 sails, and all original except the starboard bow light, and comes with 6 stands it is Canadian registered. If your interested or know some one that may be let me know, I do have someone that can haul it very reasonably.

Tim, you beat me to the punch. They guy responded to me that he is willing to sell the whole boat. He gave me no indication of price. I'm glad you got one. I did ask him for more pictures so I could make a determination. The problem with a Renegade is that I know of at least three good ones that can be had for 6-7 grand. But its worth the attempt to save this one from a short sighted owner, at least for the right price. I know the transport will be about 1000.00 for me.

Owner send me a bunch of pictures.... SAD!. The boat was probably in great shape when it was placed where it is under some trees. the toerail has lichen and moss growing on it, there is standing water in the cockpit, the taveler lines look as if the are made of moss, the engine appears to be out of the boat on the ground, from the pictures it appears to be a 6 cylinder and not a A4, this boat, at least from the pictures may be doomed. Aweful shame.

Here are some of the pictures of the boat. Moss, rot, and rotted lines look bad, but we all know they don't really affect the boat itself. Still, this boat would represent a huge project. And who knows what structural problems there might be in the deck or elsewhere.
Anyway, in case anyone's still following this thread, here are the photos. It's clear that the photos were taken to highlight specific pieces of gear that the owner plans to sell off piecemeal, but you can get the gist of the boat's condition nonetheless.

(pardon any typos. I'm typing via the memory of my fingertips, as my eyeballs have melted from their sockets)
That is just painful. Nothing a steam-powerwasher couldn't cure, of course, but still quite painful to see.
What is with that engine? Did someone imagine that an A4 was insufficient power for a Renegade?
I dig the water towers, though!

Tim, thanks for putting the pictures up, I would still be trying to post those.
What a sight to make sore eyes.
My renegade is overpowered with my A4, that engine is huge, thats overkill.
Fig, I don't know if a steam cleaning would be enough after seeing the pictures.

There is no way you'd get that engine in the Renegade. It appears to me to be way too long. I bet he yanked the A4 and took the other in trade. Just a guess though.
Actually, it really is only in cosmetically poor shape. I think $2K is a little much unless that is $2K CND not USD.
When I bought mine 10 years ago, it looked a bit like that on the outside. Luckily the inside was in good shape.

"I think $2K is a little much unless that is $2K CND not USD" - Actually it still would not be a deal. The Canadian dollar is almost at .95 of USD these days.
I always find it hard to understand people who leave beautiful boats like these out in the elements to "rot".
It is such a shame.
