For my Rhodes 19 renovation, I am replacing the athwartship stringers with either white oak or closed cell foam stringers. I understand that I need at least 1/4 inch and preferably about a half inch radius on the fillets and, I assume, on the top edges of the stringers to get the fiberglass to lay properly.
The white oak will be tabbed in place with tape. The closed cell foam will be covered with sheets of fiberglass.
1. Should I use cloth or biax or something else? West System told me that biax lays bettter over a rounded edge than cloth.
2. I see Jamestown only has 17 ounce biax. Would anyone recommend other suppliers of fiberglass?
