Anyone know where I can get caning material? Can it be ordered like fabric, by the yard, or something similar? I've found places online that sell raw fiber and furniture making tools, but have yet to see fabricated "sheets" that I can just cut to size and install on cabinet door frames. Does this exist?
Thanks!

Most woodworking supply stores/catalogs sell premanufactured caning sheets, along with the reed spline needed to install them. Check out Woodworker's Supply, Rockler, or Woodcraft, among others. I forget exactly where I picked mine up for Glissando, but it was through one of these catalogs, or one similar. It's very common.

Well, nothing has grown any mold on my boat, but, that said, the caning would be no more susceptible than any other material. It's actually a very hard, smooth, and durable material.
In fact, since the caning promotes airflow through the various lockers, I would hypothesize that it might be less susceptible than many other materials.
I love the caning. It's easy to install, looks good, and works well.
Here's another link to a more detailed caning description.

I have also used a decorative metal mesh, sold for stoves, etc. at the Home Depot. It has a tight weave like caning and comes in sheets that are 24"x36" in either copper color or aluminum color. Have used it on many small boats and been very pleased with it. Good luck.
