"Mast Transit" sails out of Swan Creek with a dinghy that has a related name that I have, thankfully, forgotten.

My dad was particularly taken with a cruising boat named "Sail On"; it's towed dink was "And On".

A little too close to my profession is the overstuffed powerboat called "Change Order" whose dink is "Original Contract".

I saw a power boat that must have been owned by someone Jewish

"Ahoy Vey"

I saw the worst ever the other day, a fishing boat called...... "Master Baiter". Imagine calling the coast guard with that one.

My past boat I called Sanity. It was my island of sanity in an otherwise insane world.

My friend told me I should call my current boat a commander "Insanity" he said he could hear it now "Coast Guard, Coast Guard this is Insanity do you copy?"

Sure will. I guess we might as well change the name of the thread to "Bad boat names that pale in comparison to the hideous one Tim spotted"

Yeesh.

We're not likely to have any real contenders to Tim's title in little ole Fishbay. But it's not from a lack of trying.

Just last night I thought of this thread when I saw a boat named...

"Ships and Giggles"

Just to add to the whole thing, it was a pontoon boat. I'm only sorry I wasn't able to get a photo.

Uh Oh! I'm in trouble.... I actually kind of think that one is cute. And fitting for a pontoon boat.

I confess to liking Ships and Giggles also. For any sort of non-classic powerboat, really.

But I also have to confess to having a plan to name my first boat "Faust", and the dinghy "Mephistopheles". Fortunately, by the time I got my first boat I had decided against it (and she came with the perfectly acceptable name of Pegasus anyway).

There are a lot of boats out there with amusing names. There are many that give me a good laugh. But I wouldn't use any of them as amusing people doesn't quite seem enough of a reason to choose any given boat name. I will admit to liking that others seem to consider it reason enough.

My father-in-law called one of his boats 'Surcease'. When asked what it meant, he'd explain 'Sure Stop'. (We call our oldest Flying Dutchman, and our first boat together, Surcease in his honor.)

Not a bad name, though, I don't think. (I called our second FD 'Surfeit', and the third was to be 'Surprise', after Patrick O'Brien's fictional frigate.)

I apologize in advance for the lack of picture, but I saw a ~25' cabin runabout last night named:

Oh-Sea-Dee

It did appear to be quite clean.

I refuse to call it OCD anymore. Simply Unacceptable. It is CDO.

(it absolutely must be alphabetized)

'Kiss my Aft'

This boat name speaks for itself... I will add, that it is located not too far from a sewerage treatment plant that tends to overflow after a heavy rain.

Airbrushed art always adds that extra touch of class to anything - boats, cars, t-shirts, license plate holders.

Heard secondhand from a friend: $tocks & Blonde$

(complete with dollar signs in place of the first and last "S", which always adds that elusive touch of class...)

Then I guess the people on Wasted Seaman will soon be posting a pic of "your" transom in this thread ;)

(How do these people ever call on the VHF radio without dying of embarrassment or dissolving in a gale of laughter?)

Think 'different species'. Think 'Darwin Awards'.

(I just erased an abusive, but funny I'd hoped, rant about that kind of intellect.)

Two boats: Oh my god and Fantastic

On Ch. 16: "Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh my god... this is Fantastic... "

That is exactly what we would say... but it's O-MY-GOD, not Oh my god.

Of course it helps when you show with a scraggly group of barefooted sailors half drunk, blaring the Souther Culture on the Skids heading to the yacht club to finish off the keg. I think we fit the part.

Ceaser, where did you see a Oh my god? I thought we were the only one!

Nice work there Bryon. I only heard the boat. Didn't see it.

This radio call has just moved one step closer to being verifiable... I mean, I could imagine someone naming their boat Fantastic, but.... OMG?

Sorry, Idon, you're not only not the only one, you're not the only one in Puget Sound. There's one in Everett, I think it's a Catalina 30. Haven't seen her leave the slip in a while.

Sue and I are in RI and CT over Christmas, and who-knows-where in New England next week. Seen in East Greenwich Yacht Club: 'Knot A Clew' and one other just as dreadful, which we've both forgotten.

I saw one in a slip this year named "Turd Cutter". It even had graphics to illustrate what is so commonly seen floating around the harbors here in Milwaukee on Lake Michigan.

Sadly, all you have to do is look about half-way up this thread and you will see it. What do I win?

I thought I might have mentioned this one already, which I saw on a powerboat, but I don't see it. It's not such a bad name, if it weren't for the "misspelling."

"Wood Pecker"

(At least I assumed it was supposed to be the bird known as a woodpecker. But who knows anymore.)

On my way back from Florida last week, I saw a pair of huge-ish power boats on trailers headed north on I-95. The first one had a fairly typical name, which I forget. The second one had a name that was bad enough it took me a few minutes (I was in traffic, mind you) to "get" the joke:

"Blue Moor Money"

Ooookay.....

I have seen many bad names. My number one is, "DON'T PANIC!" and it's written upside down.

A few years back while wandering around a boatyard looking for a project boat I came across a boat named "What It Is" with a hailport of "Where Its At".....A power boat obviously :-)
