The guy was sailing alone at night when de-masted (dismasted?). Boat capsized. He was 200+ miles off the coast but figured his only chance was to swim. He figured he was a gonner anyway. Unbeknownst to him a USCG C-130 saw his boat go over. They were low on fuel and had to return to refuel. They droped a life raft and left. The sailor, not knowing the aircraft was up there was supprised when he bumped into an overturned liferaft.
Sometimes you gotta love those Coasties.
