Answer #374

Post by Command_1 »

David Wilson and Answer triton #374 arrived in Bermuda new years day, 25 days out of Madeira island, averaging 119 NM for the 25 days. Thats an average of 4.98 KT, real good for a 49 year old girl.

I've been using 100 NM daily average for my passage planning, so that's good to hear.

Dave and Answer are the biggest single inspiration for me and #268. My refit is modeled directly on Answer and Dave's philosophy of keeping it simple.

Where could I see more about Answer? Looking for Triton / Alberg 30's to set up for simple long term cruising. Thanks!

Join the Triton Yahoo Group and search for Dave Wilson to read his comments on Answer and how he's upgraded and maintained her. I think he does have so photos up too.

Sad news-Answer #374 was lost 58 miles east of Cape Hatteras on Sunday afternoon. David Wilson is safe and well, but no doubt hurting for the loss of his beloved vessel. Godspeed, Answer.

That's terrible. I'm glad he's okay, though. Any details about what happened?

If anyone is in touch with Dave, details for the incident would be helpful if it's not too soon. I would be interested to know what system failures occurred that resulted in the sinking of a Triton.

So would I. I think Dave is planning on telling the whole story once he feels up to it. Any time something like this happens there is a lesson to be learned and one more failure point to be addressed.

Here's what David posted to the Triton Group today:

Hi fellow Tritoneers.
I am resting a my sister Nancy's home in Pemberton NJ.
My girlfriend Jan is here and we will fly back to California on monday. I haven't been home in 10 months. I really can't wait to see Marly my French bulldog.
I can hardly wait!
Answers loss is tragic and I will miss her terribly. I have had a amazing amount of support from friends and family. I really appreciate it.
Thanks to all of you.
