Throttle cable bracket

My throttle cable was clamped to a board that was screwed to a bulkhead.

The result was the board wiggled and my throttle control was less-than-precise. Is there a standard or aftermarket throttle cable bracket for the Atomic Four or should I just fabricate one myself.

I haven't heard from Mark Whipple in a while but I remember seeing just what I need on his A4. Mark? happen to have a picture of that bracket?

Britton - Yes - do a search on Morse Cable Fittings or Morse Control Cable Fittings. The cable clamps come in a variety of styles and shapes for different uses and set-ups. You may also check out the Moyer Marine web-site as I am pretty sure that Moyer offers the entire set up as a whole or in separates.

Mike isnt that the set up for the Choke cable? The thottle cable arrangement is basically the same thing except the 'cable clamps' are specifically designed for 'throttle cables' where as in the picture that you have posted - the cable shown is not a standard 'throttle cable'. Eitherway - the mechanics involved are exactly the same so the picture is still very helpful and worth a thousand words.

No, the choke cable isn't pictured. The choke cable clamp is an integral part of the choke assembly (down and to the left), not anything separate. It's there just to the right of the choke, also serving the return-spring.

Not a standard throttle cable? hey man that's a Triton Original!!!

OK - well Pearson was very much into 'debrouillard' - otherwise know as 'system D' must have purchased those babies from Brigs and Stratton <grins>

Flashbacks...

I'd like to make some thumb screws for the ends of the throttle cable clamp. No screwdriver is short enough to get between the block and the carb... or the bulkhead and the carb!

Britton, If you can't find one I'll make you the bracket and clamp. I've still got the engine, and the original to use as a plan. (Got a machine shop up at work to play with... Grin!)

Allen head screws work as well. See the choke clamp.
(I hadn't yet found one for the choke cable end at the time of the pic)
