"Aweigh" Under Sail

Post by Aweigh329 »

I don't have many pics of "Aweigh" under sail but here are a few my friend Dave of "Answer" #374 took recently. Thanks Dave! And one more back in the slip.

Yea, it was a little light for the 80% jib when the pics were taken, but that is the sail that gets the most use on the bay during summer sailing. I'm getting quite proficient at putting in the second reef on the main as well.

Of course I'm wisecracking out of pure envy.
I'd love to be able to move the boat on such short canvas around here!

I'd be curious to see the dimensions of that 80%, if you have them handy.

Sorry, I don't have the dimensions handy. I had the guys at Doyle pretty much duplicate the old sails. I had a 90 and a 115ish. The new ones are just a little smaller. I find myself constantly shortening sail or at least thinking about it. I hope to get the 110 up more now that the summer winds are starting to die down a bit. I've got a couple of big jennys also that I rarely use. Afternoons on SF Bay can be a little hairy at times. What a big difference from the old sails though. Night and day!
