Re: Contessa - Medalist 33
Nardus,
Welcome to the forum!
It looks like you inherited good taste in boats - I wouldn't mind either of those two :)
I'm sure I speak for not only myself when I say that we would love to see and hear more about the Medalist and your new Contessa.
Groetjes,
Rachel

I've always liked the Contessa 32. More pictures, please?

The Logaritme had a refit because it had heavy osmosis. The gelcoat was removed and a few layers polyester.
They give her a new paintjob and the "wheelsteering"?

Nardus,
Please email your stuff to me and I'll get it on the LeComteOwner's Site, too.
That's an unusual Medalist with the trunk cabin. A Mk III with the spade rudder.

Re: Contessa - Medalist 33
Yes , I`ll agree. But the spade rudder is not so unuasual for a MkII-III ? (I`m not an expert)
As seen here (clickme)
But the trunk cabin seems to be from an Northeast 38 ?? with 3 windows. My father bought her like this. It seems original. From the inside she was nicely timbered.
My father bought her in `77 from an englishman who wants a faster racing boat. He used her for racing only.
I was told that Medalists where racers, equipped complete with kitchen, saloons and berths for sailing with the family so now and then.
I`am sorry for the pour quality, we took pictures from pictures from an old family album i found. The pictures are slowly loosing their color.. I`ll scan the pictures on a flatbedscanner and send them over in a mutch better quality.

Re: Contessa - Medalist 33
The trunk cabin certainly does look very much like the one on the Northeast 38, and suits the Medalist admirably - she looks lovely!
Thanks for sharing those photos, and I look forward to seeing them on the LeComte Owner's site, also. Does your father still have her? Can you send along interior shots as well?
And now for your Contessa 32 - I'm sure there are others looking forward to more photos of her, too!
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Contessa - Medalist 33
Nardus,
Your posts are the first that tuned me into the fact that Medalists had the same three versions, Mks, that the NE 38 did. I had never seen a Medalist with a spade rudder but, clearly, Dolf was not afraid of updating the design as he had updated the design of the NE 38. I had seen a Medalist with a trunk cabin in lieu of the Tripp trademark bubble. I've never seen a NE 38 with a bubble, though!
