I've seen pics of that renovation before?it used to be on the NETA site, but was lost at some point in the past.
It sure is sweet, and seems like it's been kept up well, but I don't think 249 is realistic since it is 10 years old and you can get a brand-new Morris daysailor (32?) for about that as a base price.

The workmanship on that boat is beautiful, for sure, and clearly on par with the best of the best. I hate to think what it cost to have her built.
I think the asking price is unrealistic, though. But you never know. It sure makes my own asking price seem low, though!
Speaking of the Morris 36: I saw a nice blue one coming home from the cruise last week, off Quahog Bay. The house was varnished wood, which looked so much better than the prototype that had the glass house (and which we have discussed here before). I didn't manage to get a picture, but the boat was very pretty.

Yes, something like that. From the pictures I have seen previously (from the old NETA site), I honestly don't think the transom extension worked for the boat.
To my admittedly critical eye, the longer, narrower transom/counter unbalanced the lines of the boat, coupled with the standard (and relatively short) forward overhang--plus the very "cab forward" location of the new cabin trunk. Yes, I'm being nitpicky, but I still wonder why they did the transom modification.
Otherwise, the boat is unquestionably first class in terms of woodwork and so forth. I notice the listing is lacking a bit in terms of detail regarding equipment, engine, and so forth, but she looks nice, and well-kept since 1995.

By the way, what is a "sufficticated" sailor?
Sufficticated is a condensing of two words of generally negative connotation: suffer and afflicted.
The person who would spend $250 K on this (fine) boat, would be afflicted severely with the more money than sense phenomena and suffering dearly.
While that boat is soooo nice, I can't see anyone spending that kind of money on it. There are simply too many alternatives out there for a great deal less.
What a boat, though.

I think you're right about the balance of the boat, by the way. The bowsprit helps on paper, but not in three dimensions.
Oh, but I have some SERIOUS bowsprit envy off this one. grrrrrrrr.

After looking at the aerial photo again, it occured to me that the extended transom, very forward cabin trunk, bowsprit, and cutter rig all make it look just like a Friendship sloop. Just need to flare out the topsides forward and shorten the keel. Gaffed main would settle it.
Has the boat been sailed & owned by the refitter all this time? Or did someone pay that much for it "new"?
