That's why it's called the splinter group. ;)

I'm not much of a powerboat guy, but here's one with really nice lines.

Work is overrated.

Most everything you read on the Internet is wrong.

That's a 1937 Elco. One of the best features is that massive casting holding the sidelights on the bow, and a similarly huge samson post just behind.

The owner didn't bother covering the boat because the planking in the bottom is wide open...thus, no chance for water to collect within!

Note the curved line running from just ahead of the windshield to the transom; the area above that line was originally bright, and having that distinction would (and will again someday) have a marked impact on the overall look of the boat.

What a small world... A hour after seeing that lovely wooden motorboat online... I saw it! I was in a rush and was going to the post office and right there was this very same green motorboat!

Its for sale. An area in a field was cleared and this boat was parked there. Its off Route 1, on Birch Point Road in Wiscasset. Its about two miles north of the Wiscasset Ford dealership.

I didn't stop because, as I said, I was in a rush. Next week, I will stop by and take a close look. It practically looks perfect but I will be able to know better when I get within 10 feet. It looks GREAT. I am glad people are restoring these old wooden powerboats, they have lots of charisma.

Hopefully it gets sold quickly. Wooden boats do not take well to being exposed to the elements...
