Been working on the woodwork of the Ariel, The original winch blocks, and end blocks are pretty well gone on the coamings.
Started digging through the 'scrap' wood, and started digging out the teak andmahogany, these are all smaller bits, but I found what I think is some cherry that is almost perfect for the end blocks, right size, and even has the right curve for the end blocks. Pretty much all that will take is cutting three angles, and a rabbit to make the blocks.
Know it's not on the marine list, but anyone know how well cherry would hold up as end blocks with decent varnish?

Decided on a glue up with mahogany, ended up with some very reasonable facsimiles. I'll get some pics up when the varnish dries.
