spreader hardwear

Post by Mario G »

On my Chrysler C-26 the spreader detached at the mast taking the lower shrouds with it. The assembly is set up with cups that bolt to the mast by what I think is a double end stud about 1/2" dia., not sure the length. I'm in need of size and where I might find replacement.

Shaken Knot Stir'd is 3 1/2 hours away and as much as I would like to drop everything to run out there and work on it life keeps getting in the way.

Is the mast down and handy, other than the 3 1/2 hours? Have a closer look at it. Could be an aluminum ferrule (sleeve, piece of pipe, which bears on the inner face of the mast and keeps it from collapsing while tightening the bolt) within the mast and a stainless through bolt. 1/2" dia sounds too big for a 26 footer, but maybe. What part failed? Will the bolt come out? Lots of stories about such bolts corroding to immovability within the ferrule.

Easy enough to get on the horn with Dwyer Masts in CT and see what they have, once you see what you have.
