EZ Kold Reefer Start Up After Sitting for 4 years

Post by jetboy52 »

I have a water cooled EZ Kold reefer in my Alberg 37 that hasn't been used for about 4 years. I have had the boat for a year now but did not use the reefer last year. I am wondering what maintenance items I would most likely need to do to get this system going for the upcoming season. I know nothing about marine refridgeration.

If it is strictly water cooled you should check the zincs. If you are feeling ambitious you can use some Rydlime or other descaler to clean the water passages. If it is air cooled as well, you can check fan / cooling fins. Good cleaning and start it up. If the unit won't start and you have checked that it has power and other vital signals from controls you are prob low on gas.
