Fender Cleaner

Post by boyle »

Is there a fender cleaner that actually works?? My fenders are nasty looking and I have not found anything that seems to clean them.

Seapower and elbow grease works pretty well.

Waterless brush cleaner. I would not use it often but it will clean the fender so that you can give a good waxing with something like "fender cleaner and polish" or some sort of plastic protector. Or you could do what I do... cover them with one of those fleece fender covers.

Are you referring to a pumice-based type product when to say "waterless brush cleaner"- there seems to be several alternative products that use that term (and I don't want to spring for fender covers, just yet). Thanks in advance, David

David,

I should have looked it up before I posted.

http://www.amazon.com/SUNNYSIDE-CORPORA ... B000BZZ5A4

It is not waterless it is water rinsable. Water Rinsable Brush Cleaner - Sunnyside is the brand name and it is most likely available at the local true value or cash home. As usual, try a little spot first but it was magic on my fenders.

Good luck

Thanks Dennis,
I've seen that at my local ACe and will report back on how well it works on my very ugly fenders. Is life too short to own some? I certainly hope not! D

Dave,

There are way too many pretty boats out there to ever need to own an ugly one. Plus, there are too many people out there that appear to love ugly boats.

Much agreed Dennis......And on the topic of fenders, there is one thing that drives me crazy.....That is people out day-sailing with fenders hanging over the side all day long. It is one thing to deploy them before entering the harbor, but come on, stow them while out sailing. :-)

Dick,

It is like watching someone coming out of the rest room with a 5' streamer of toilet paper stuck to their shoe.
