Re: Lewmar racing winches
The only V55 winches I am familiar with are those that are linked to coffee grinder pedestals as used on the Volvo 60 boats.

Re: Lewmar racing winches
I have a pair of 55 three-speeds on my boat, not sure about the V prefix though....
Have you checked out the "library" at the Oyster Bay Boat Shop? They have the parts diagrams for most Lewmar winches:

Re: Lewmar racing winches
I've got the 3 speed 45s which are just like the 55s. Don't know what the V designation is though. I can tell you from experience that no-one has any diagrams for winches made before before June of 1974-- especially not Lewmar. It seems that is when Lewmar was restructured/sold and nothing seems to have survived that transition.
Bam Miller at Oyster Bay Boat shop might be able to help with parts (he did me), but that was before they stopped re-selling Lewmar parts.
I tore mine down last winter and only broke three of the small needle bearing cages which I was able to order from Bam when I put everything back together. If you post pictures we might be able to help.
