anyone know anything about the Chinook 34?
a friend is interested in one for sale on craigslist.
so far, what i have found out is that there were 70 built from about 1956 to 1968 in Portland, Oregon by a kind of DIY group called Yacht Constructors.
a link to the chinook 34 webpage:

Re: Chinook 34
I have never sailed one, so I can't comment directly. I've just read about them. We have had one or two members who owned them though - one is/was Monkey Mikey (monkeymikey2000). So if you have not already, you might do a search for posts with Chinook. I can't remember if there were any comments of sailing qualities, but there might have been.
There was also an article in Good Old Boat magazine some years ago - it may be linked to online.
Pretty boats. I've seen a bit of variation in cabin construction and materials.

Re: Chinook 34
You know, later I was wondering if the way I wrote my post made it sound like you should have searched. But I really just meant to say that I realized you might already have had it covered :)
I always get a kick out of reading the older posts (plus information).
Here are a few photos of the one for sale (I'm assuming this is the one you're looking at). I realize they will probably disappear when the ad does, but I can't save images to this particular computer so this is the best I can do for today.
