Another chainplate question

I want remove chainplates for inspection. I have removed the mizzen chainplates with out issue but the main will not budge. The chainplates are glassed in the knees than thru bolted. Has any one been successful removing chainplates mounted as these without cutting them out of the knees?

I stand corrected in my statement above, the angle on cable around the sheave is less than 90 degrees. I was trying to say that because the cable angles down as it goes aft, there is more wap around the sheave.

I think the angel of the cable run on the Invicta is somewhat more than a 90 passing the first sheave to the second sheave. The second sheave is lower in the Invicta because of the depth of the engine and the need for the cable and conduit to travel under the engine to reach a point where it turns u...

Tim, You probably don?t remember, but you and I e-mailed a few times when I purchased the Bounty II. The story goes that in the sixties I was building Rhodes 27s at Lund boat works in Erie Pa. A customer we did lots of work for arrived with a new Bounty II. It was the first large fiberglass sailboat...

I have been comming to the conclusion that the Aerodyne Marine gang (West coast) lightened the scantlings on there later boats. While not being able to comment on WC Tritons, the last of the Bounty II's, the ones finished by Palmer Johnson had lighter scantlings than discriptions I've read about ear...

Bottom Crazing

I have removed all the bottom paint. The bottom was than sanded with 80 grit. The hull laminate is very dry, tested by meter. There is no blistering or pox. The gelcoat is solid and non-flaking, but lots of crazing. At forty three years old I have no concern that blistering or absorption will start ...

Repainting with Awlgrip

I want to repaint a hull which was Awlgriped in 1993/94. The paint is in very good condition, but has dulled with age and some minor dings and dangs. After reading all the on line information from U.S. paint, it is still not clear to me if I treat the surface as bear gelcoat priming all with 545 or ...
