Bobstay Question
Hello all! Got what is probably a dumb question about my new bobstay fitting. The prior fitting was falling apart and in my opinion radically under-built for the job I ask it to do. http://picasaweb.google.com/Idon84/CosmicDancerRebuildYEAR1#5206618845504690690 I have purchased a new fitting to be i...

When we bought our boat it had water tanks built into the keel. They were no longer usable due to osmosis inside the hull leaving a nasty black film in where the hull was blistering inside. Never got a chance to taste the water in them. I toiled over rebuilding or replacing and read a few articles o...

I've been wondering how to do this on my BCC but because of the gently sloping curve of the keel, the boat would rock forward as the ...

I'm not an expert here FOR SURE but I think if my hull was deformed from a jack-stand (better go adjust mine now) I would try to reshape the area by applying pressure from the convex side of the dent and then build a sturdy hat shaped stiffener to correct? Of course you need to have access from the ...

Neighbor!
I reiterate my comment previously. DROOOOLLL!
I don't know where I've been, probably just looking at pictures and not reading, but I didn't realize you were a neighbor up in the islands. I hope I get to see her out there during one of my summer sails in the San Juans!

Stern Tube & Cutlass Bearing Questions
OK time for my next question. I've been contemplating on what to do with my cutlass bearing and stern tube. I guess I'm totally at a loss of where I should start in pulling this apart. Here is a picture to start with. Having issues actually uploading the pic so here is the link. http://picasaweb.goo...

Got the tanks back from Triple M Plastics. They are heavily built and fit perfectly. Their service was excellent and shipping was not so bad as to cause a heart attach of course they can do nothing about shipping. The aft tank is 18.5 Gallons and the forward tank is 26 gallons. OK... So I was looking over all of the Triton's in this group and noticed that many of them have Oval Portholes facing forward on their cabin tops. Sailing clubs are great! Become stable/reliable crew, work hard, listen, and most importantly show up(nothing's worse than training someone only to have them NOT show up when you need them)! I totally agree with EVERYTHING said thus far. I have no social life, unless friends show up to help which is almost never, even with the keg of beer I have on site. No, there is no reason why I can't feed from the belly tanks. I'll probably have a valve to do just that. I saw the system on another cruising boat a while back. The thinking is: 1. collect rainwater easily from the deck, the belly tanks are only fillable from below. 2. The ability to monitor our wa...

OK, so I finally made a decision on the water tanks. I am going with Triple M Plastics in Maine. They quoted me $400 for the rear tank and $475 for the aft tank. Shipping for both tanks will be in the $150 range to Olympia WA. The cheapest Stainless Steel quote I got would be near $2500. Not only th...

Agreed. Although I'm interested in doing just about all of my work, the thought of having to remove the tanks sooner than later (my luck) doesn't sound fun. However, having the basic knowledge I do see as critical. I've welded up a 4x4 before and man were those ugly welds! 7 years later they are sti...

One of the companies quoted the tank size too...
Forward Tank 30.5 gal
Aft Tank 24.5 gal
I wanted between 50-60 gal total. So this is perfect!

I need some input... Rebuilding my icebox and was wondering what the average size of a typical icebox for 2 people would be before I start building. By my calculations 4.5 cubic feet will be the size of my icebox after 4" of insulation. Almost seems smallish to me to be able to keep things cool...

There are many ways to skin a cat, cook spaghetti, drive a car, and build boats. Makes sense. The Boogers probably are uncured polyester as Feetup states. I think the idea of injecting 5200 in between the bulkhead and hull would be the best bet. The bulkheads are still firmly in place because I left the tabbings at the top alone. The bottoms wiggle a bit. They do NOT fit snugly ...

I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the use of Mish Mash for bulkheads etc. I have a few bulkheads that I am NOT going to remove but would like to put the same type of pliable filler between the parts. I've only found a few sources that say to use "Industrial Talc" or "Pulve...
