Post by Jasper Windvane »

I've faired, ,, the fairing is West System with 407

Do I need to seal the finish before applying primer,, paint?

I ALWAYS roll on one more thin coat of epoxy over ANY fairing compound. Then sand once more and you should be ready to go.

By the way, unless there is a reason for using a filling primer, well sanded epoxy is a very good primer in and of itself. Alkyd enamels, 2 part polyurethanes and paints like Brightsides (which I personally don't like) and EasyPoxy adhere very well on well sanded epoxy.

Don't forget to scrub with a wet Scotchbrite pad and rinse/dry to get rid of any amine blush. I'm not sure if anything will stick to that.
