Mounting a Dwyer Mast hindge to the topsideon an Albin vega

Post by Redwood1957 »

I have a dwyer mast hinge. It comes with 4 holes in the bottom to attach to the boat.
I was thinking of using 5/16 stainless rod couplings glassed into the topside to bolt the hinge to. Or purchase 4 of dwyer spacer nuts and use them. Is this over kill?
Thanks in advance

It may be strong enough as is but I would install compression nuts or sleeves of whatever type so that the vertical weight will be transferred to the step by the nuts instead of putting all the load on the plate and pins.
