I am looking at new blocks for my main sheet setup and am bamboozled by the variety available. I intend to use the original setup with two single blocks on the quarters and a double on the boom. I do not have any interest in go fast, ultralight racing stuff. I am looking for simple serviceable robust hardware that is a good value. I do not have issue with composites or lightweight technology, I am just not willing to pay extra for 2% less friction. I feel the same way about shippy nostalgia. I am searching for blocks with quality robust construction and a good reputation.
I am interested in the opinion of the knowledgeable regarding the various types of blocks.

Hi Drew,
I've used Ronstan and Schaefer blocks on my Triton and they both hold up well. There's a steady supply of both deeply discounted sold as "new" on Ebay.

Value wise, I really do not think you can beat Garhauer hardware. Particularly the stainless blocks. They will outlast the fiberglass hull.

You can't beat Garhauer for value and quality. Never had anything Garhauer fail and if it does they'd simply replace it..

+1 for Garhauer. That stuff is bomb proof, very smooth and much less exensive than comparable items from other brands. I replaced every block on the boat with Garhauer and didn't (quite) break the bank.

Thank you all for the replies.
I was already leaning in the Garhauer direction and your replies have strengthened that position.
Garhauer it is.
