To all Forum dwellers:
While this may be into the future, I have been wondering about putting in a new cabin sole. The old one was a piece of 1/2" marine ply shaped to the hull. This is my obvious starting point. I'm thinking of thin 1/4" strips of cedar or teak epoxied onto a plywood back, then epoxying thin strips directly onto the hull as it curves up to meet the sides. I would leave a gap in between each strip and then would fill the gap with some sort of rubberised 'goop'. Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Ian

That's a sound, workable plan, as long as the existing sole is solid and well-secured. You can use black-tinted epoxy to fill the grooves between the strips (use graphite powder), or black polysulfide like one would use on a traditional teak deck.
