Although I'm still busy working on my "big" boat, a Rhodes Meridian 25, I just bought another sort of plastic classic. A fiberglass sailing dory. Apparently, it was built by a fellow who was somehow involved in caring for Narragansett Bay lifeboats. One winter, he used the hull of one of the lifeboats as a mold, and laid up a fiberglass copy. The fiberglass lapstrakes have the texture of the wooden planks of the mold-boat. While I can hardly justify another project, I couldn't resist. Besides, I have a new sailing ground - my in-laws have moved to a spot near the Great Bay in New Hampshire, and this boat will live there, once it's fixed up a bit. It has a loose-footed sprit rig.
(The photo with the green grass is from some time ago, the brown grass photo is now).
