oDay Mariner
oDay Mariner
Heres a little introduction. My name is chris fretz and i live in norristown PA. I recently restored an oDay Mariner which is raced on the deleware river and jersey shore.
Before:
she was neglected and had a hole where the mast base ripped out of the deck. I fixed all the structural problems in the 1st year. raced a full season and hit the cosmetic issues last winter.
This winter im painting the interior and possibly laminating a varnished transom. I'm starting a restoration of a scow and will probably be posting some additional questions in the future.
You guys have done some great work and i look forward to seeing more.
Regards,

Am I the only person who can't see the imagestation pictures? If I try to open the link directly I get a "forbidden" error.

Actually, sometimes the images show up and sometimes not... strange.

my photos are hosted on imagestation and sometimes the service is spoty. try refreshing a few times or check back later if its still a problem. I post in a few other places and have the same problem once in awhile.
The perfection was interesting. I tried to spray and had a bad time with it. so we rolled 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of finish. At 1st i wasnt happy. It looks great untill i'm about 2 feet away. In my garage it was hard to get 2 feet away so i was obsessing over the finish and wasted a lot of time. once it was out and sailing the compliments started coming. Most people dont see the little things im unhappy with.
The boat is raced hard and hoisted out every time. its been bumped scraped and pinned on the wrong side of a floating dock in a squall. the finish is fine with a few small scratches. I recomend it to the DIY set.
